Important Message and Invitation from
Presidents Council Chairman Fred Leonhardt |
Dear Friends and Colleagues:
I was recently given the honor and privilege of being
named Chairman of the Presidents Council - Commercial Real Estate Forum
of Central Florida. Our mission is to convene the leadership of Central
Florida's real estate-related associations in a forum to facilitate
local, state and national action to positively affect smart growth and
economic development for our region.
The immediate focus of the Presidents Council is to
defeat Amendment 4, a “vote on everything” amendment to the Florida
Constitution being promoted by extreme special interests. This
irresponsible amendment, which requires voters to approve all local
comprehensive land use plan changes, threatens a well-established, open
and democratic planning process. If passed, this amendment would
further hurt our economy and imperil Florida's future. We plan to
launch a statewide effort to educate the public on the grave threat
Amendment 4 presents to Florida's economy and its future.
It is time to convene the membership of the Presidents
Council and to further examine Amendment 4. I would like to invite you
to attend our next membership breakfast meeting scheduled for Friday,
March 12, 2010, at 8:00 a.m., at my offices of GrayRobinson, P.A., in
downtown Orlando.
We will be joined by members of the “No on 4” leadership
team including Mark Wilson of the Florida Chamber of Commerce and Ryan
Houck with Citizens for Lower Taxes & A Stronger Economy.
Additionally, Patrick Slevin, a consultant based in
Tallahassee, will provide his perspective and outline “grassroots”
opportunities for a statewide campaign to defeat this measure.

The Presidents Council will periodically convene to
address other real estate-related issues facing our membership. The
Presidents Council needs your support to help facilitate its mission. I
